CMI has been involved with recording, clearing, licensing and supervising music for a variety of commercials, films, games, and television shows, working with major labels such a CapitolRecords, EMI, Sony, Universal, and Warner/Chappell.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
CMI was asked by Universal Pictures to clear music for use within Edgar Wright's 2010 feature film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, an adaptation of the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim, by Bryan Lee O'Malley. CMI obtained clearance to use a portion of the cult-classic music score from the Final Fantasy II video game, which was featured in the first graphic novel.
In this scene from the film, Michael Cera mindlessly brags to his band-mates that he "learned the bassline from Final Fantasy II" despite having just surprised them with news that he broke up with his girlfriend.
Funny People (2009)
CMI was asked by Universal Pictures to produce and record a track for Judd Apatow’s 2009 comedy, Funny People. Starring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, and Eric Bana, CMI produced a song for Jonah Hill’s “Cute Cuddly Kittens” segment featured within the film.
Written by Hammer (lyrics) and Tomoko Kataoka (music), performed by Arthur Carbonel, Iphignie Carbonel, Hana Jacobsen, Jay Jacobsen, Anna Kotecki, and Kiori Tanaka, and published by Manual of Errors Artsits Co. Ltd.
